Good morrow gentle Swain! Alright, enough of that. This week we are looking at Sir Lancelot by Xonox, maybe a Joust tipoff but it's a lot of fun! Next month is October already, sheesh. We'll be celebrating all month with S C A R Y games! First up will be the Homebrew game Skeleton+ by Eric Ball, followed by the wonderful Frankenstein's Monster by Data Age. I'm really looking forward to these games, and I hope you are too! iIf you have feedback for either game, please send it to me at 2600gamebygame@gmail.com. I will need feedback for Skeleton+ by October $th, and October 18th for Frankenstein's Monster. Thanks so much for listening!

Long time no see doc! *smak* This week we are discussing the prototype/reproduction game Bugs Bunny, originally from Atari. This Bob Polaro/Alan Murphy collaboration was shelved in the 80s and finally saw limited release at the late, lamented Philly Classic in 2002. It's a beautiful game that I hope you will seek out and try. Coming up next is Sir Lancelot by Xonox. If you have feedback for this guy, please send it to me at 2600gamebygame@gmail.com by September 21st at 10 PM EST. You get a smidge more time for this one, then hopefully I'll get back on track and stay that way. HA HA HA HA. Thank you again for all the kind words about the Space Shuttle episode, and thank you so much for listening.

The day many of you have been waiting for (and waiting and waiting, sorry about that) is finally here. Today is the finale of the Summer of Shuttles, and I am covering Space Shuttle by Activision. I'm not a simulator fan at all, so I hope I have done this game justice and I hope you enjoy the episode. Coming up pretty quick since I want to keep my schedule is the prototype game Bugs Bunny by Atari. I said in the episode to get me your feedback by the 10th, but let's change that to the 11th at 10PM EST, because when I recorded the episode I thought it would go out on the same day. You can send your feedback to me at 2600gamebygame@gmail.com. Thank you again for your patience, and as always, thank you for listening.

Hello and welcome to the Summer of Shuttles! (It's only a month.) First up we are talking about the Avalon Hill game Shuttle Orbiter, which I enjoyed but found a little frustrating. Lots of great feedback as usual, I hope you enjoy the episode. Coming up next is the one a lot of you have been waiting for, Space Shuttle, a Journey Into Space, by Activision. My attitude towards simulation games precedes me, but I will give this a fair shake. I just can't promise I will be able to figure it out. If you have feedback for Space Shuttle (I know you do), please send it to me at 2600gamebygame@gmail.com by AUGUST 21ST. I'm going to need all the time I can get for this one. I'm sure the description of the game will be rather long, so no need to summarize the gameplay in your feedback, I just want your thoughts and/or memories of the game. Thank you so much for listening!

Hello everyone! Sorry about the delay, but now here is the Spitfire Attack episode for you, by Milton Bradley. We also discuss the Flight Commander controller that came with it. I never had one but we do have a few listeners who did, which is exciting! Also exciting is what's coming up next month, the Summer of Shuttles! I will be covering Shuttle Orbiter by Avalon Hill and Space Shuttle by Activision. If you have feedback for either of these games, please send it to me at 2600gamebygame@gmail.com. I will need the Shuttle Orbiter feedback by August 9th, and the feedback for Space Shuttle by August 21st. I'm expecting a bit for Space Shuttle 😂

Hey everyone, this week on the program we have a very early homebrew and the first from Ebivision, Alfred Challenge! It's a very difficult game but one I personally enjoyed. Mrs. Ferguson the Librarian also makes an appearance in this episode! Congratulations to the winners of the PlusCart and the Edladdin Super 78 controller from the episode 200 contests. I haven't notified them yet so I want it to be a surprise. Don't worry, I picked the winners before I started talking about the game. You WILL have to wait a little longer to hear the countdowns though, sorry about that. Next up on the show is the unreleased prototype called Surf's Up by Amiga. If you have feedback for Surf's Up or any game I've already covered, please send it to me at 2600gamebygame@gmail.com. Thank you all for entering the contests, and of course, for listening.

I'll tell you all about it in two weeks, so if you have any feedback for Asterix, please get it to me by November 29th. You can send it to 2600gamebygame@gmail.com. Hi there! This week's game is the unreleased prototype for Xevious, by Atari. I think Tod Frye did a great job on this, it's a shame that it didn't come out at the time. Coming up next on the show is the prototype game Kyphus by Apollo. After I put it on the list however, I discovered that it's not really a playable game. But it does have a part number assigned to it, and you know the law around these parts. If you want to take a look at it and send me some feedback about it, please send it to 2600gamebygame@comcast.net by end of the day October 18th. Thank you so much for listening, I hope that you are all well and safe.

Hi there, thanks once again for your patience (I thought I was done saying that, apparently I have more work to do). This week I am covering Lock 'n' Chase by M Network, which is a Pac-Man wannabe that doesn't quite get there for me. The prototype for Xevious by Atari is coming up next, and I'm going to try to stay on schedule despite this week's show being late. If you have any feedback for Xevious, please send it to me at 2600gamebygame@gmail.com by 6 PM EST on October 6th. You can get a copy of the Xevious rom here. Once again, thanks for your patience and especially thank you for listening. Please be kind to one another.

In this episode I finally take a look at the Starpath game Party Mix, which may be one of the first collections of mini games in a video game. It is a rare 4 player paddle game at the late date of Fall 1983, but it has its usual Starpath polish. I hope you enjoy listening. Next up will be Bank Heist by 20th Century Fox, and hopefully it will be released in two weeks. If you have feedback for Bank Heist, please send it to 2600gamebygame@gmail.com by end of day September 5th. Thank you so much for your patience, and for listening.

Hello friends, this is a rare interview edition of the show, in which I talk to Steve Cartwright about his career. We talk about his time at Activision, Accolade, and Electronic Arts, as well as what he's doing now and even touch on some of his hobbies. It was an honor and a privilege to talk to Steve, and I thank him very much for speaking with me. I hope that you enjoy it and I thank you for listening.

Thanks so much for tuning into the show, this is a very special episode featuring Frostbite by the great Steve Cartwright. It also marks the release of a heretofore unknown work in progress prototype of Frostbite called Iceman, which you can find in the links below. Please listen to the episode for the whole 22 year journey of Iceman! Steve Cartwright was gracious enough to do a phone interview with me as well, that will be coming up in the feed very soon.

Next up is Moonsweeper by Imagic, which was done by another great programmer, Bob Smith. Please send your feedback on Moonsweeper to 2600gamebygame@gmail.com by May 17th to be included in the show. Thank you again for listening, and huge thanks to Curt, Rob, Dennis and GlitchCat7 for helping me get Iceman to you.

Hello there, I hope that you all are safe and sane during this weird and difficult time. Today's episode is about Pole Position, the Namco arcade game that was ported to various Atari systems by General Computer Corp. (GCC if you're nasty). Coming up next is the wonderful Frostbite, by Activision's Steve Cartwright. If you have any thoughts on Frostbite (and I know that you do), please send them to me at 2600gamebygame@gmail.com by the end of the day on May 3rd. Hi there! I hope very much that you all are staying home when you can and staying safe. For the first time in a loooong time, I have a Bonus Track for you. In this episode I go through my concert ticket stubs that I saved (most of them from before my twenties), and talk about each show, if I remember anything about it. There's some fun stories in there that I hope you will like. Thanks to Sean and Lisa for the inspiration, there's an Autobiography of a Schnook episode where the two of them talk about the concerts they went to in 2019. As always, please take care of yourselves and thank you for listening.

Hi there, I hope that you are all safe and staying home if you can. I know in many cases that is more difficult, a lot of my friends have to work from home while home schooling their kids, which I imagine is a lot. We will get through this! One thing that may or may not help with that is Z-Tack by Bomb, the super rare ripoff of a PAL game called Base Attack. I was kind of surprised that I got so much feedback for this game, thank you so much. Next time I'll be covering a big game, Pole Position by Atari. If you have any thoughts on this game, please send it to 2600gamebygame@gmail.com by April 12th. I think there will be a lot of feedback for that one too. As always, I thank you so much for listening and I wish you all health and happiness.

If you think that's confusing, wait until you hear THE REST OF THE STORY. It's a fun one! Coming up next is Tomcat F-14 Flight Simulator by Accolade, a late 80s release. I would especially like to know if you had this game when it originally came out. Please send your thoughts to me at 2600gamebygame@gmail.com by end of day November 3rd. Hello there, thanks for waiting for this episode that features Joust by Atari! It's one of my favorite arcade games and is done pretty well on the 2600 (spoilers), probably because it was in the capable hands of GCC. Next up is Star Wars The Arcade game by Parker Brothers, which has an extremely interesting provenance. If you'd like to contribute to that episode, please send your feedback to 2600gamebygame@gmail.com by end of day October 20th, and I'll put it in the show. Thanks so much for listening!

In this episode we look at the game Quest for Quintana Roo, which I mispronounced for most of the show. Thanks to Eugenio for correcting me. I loved the game and I hope you will too. Next up is a big game, Joust by Atari via Williams. If you have any thoughts on this game, please get them to me by end of day 5th October and I'll put it in the show. Remember, just tell me your thoughts on the game, I'll take care of the game play. you can send those thoughts to 2600gamebygame@gmail.com. Thanks so much for listening!

In this episode we take a look at the 20th Century Fox game M*A*S*H, and also do a mini Bonus Track on the TV show, sorry about that. Next up on the show will be Quest For Quintana Roo by Sunrise. If you have any feedback on this game, please send it to me at 2600gamebygame@gmail.com by end of the day September 21. NO STRAGGLERS. :)

There were no entries for the surprise contest in the Malagai episode. Either no one listened to the end of the show, or the clues were too, wait for it, obtuse.

As always, thank you so much for listening, I love each and every one of you.

Hi there, thanks so much for your patience for the last 6 months of my podcast drought. Today I bring you Malagai by Answer Software, and I also discuss their Personal Game Programmer. Next up on the show will be M*A*S*H by 20th Century Fox. If you have any feedback for that game, please send it to me at 2600gamebygame@comcast.net by September 7th. Thank you very kindly for listening, and once again I am grateful for your patience and kind thoughts and words.

Next on the podcast is Malagai, by Answer Software. If you have this game, I would love to see a photo of it on Facebook or Twitter, see the links below for those. If you have any thoughts on the game, please send them to me at 2600gamebygame@gmail.com by end of day 17 February. Greetings and welcome to my hopefully new feature, interview episodes! First up is Jeff Ronne, who was the programmer for Tron Deadly Discs from M Network. I really enjoyed talking with him and I am grateful to him for his time. He's an interesting guy and also one of the few programmers at that time who programmed games for multiple systems. If you have any comments, you can email them to me at 2600gamebygame@comcast.net, or leave them on the Facebook or Twitter pages. Thanks so much for listening!

In this episode I will be looking at (and also talking about) the Apollo game Infiltrate, which is kind of like a dumbed down Elevator Action for our Atari 2600. I don't have an exact date for the next game yet, but it will be tron Deadly Discs by M Network and will come out in January. If you have any Christmas memories that you would like to submit to the 6th annual Christmas show, please send them to me by the end of the day on December 16th. Also, I will be announcing a date and time for when Sarah and I will do a livestream of all the games I covered this year. Thank you to everyone for your patience waiting for this Stargunner episode. Of course, the research was all done the week before the episode was due out, then I got sick that weekend. So the lesson here is that procrastination is good. I have a lot of the research done for Infiltrate, so that will be out the week after Thanksgiving, and that will be the last game of the year. So if you have feedback for Infiltrate, please send it to 2600gamebygame@gmail.com by end of day November 25th.

I would like to thank everyone who donated to my Extra Life campaign as well as those of you who watched the live streams that I did. I raised $1500 for the Children's Hospital of Philadephia thanks to all of you. I got an email from Extra Life saying that I was in the top 30 earners for the hospital, which is great! I plan on doing it again next year, but I will be doing the two days in one weekend. I had fun playing the games, but I got a little frustrated towards the end of the second weekend. Sinistar is an extremely difficult game but I love it so much, for some reason.

Thank you all so much for watching, listening, and donating. I hope that all my American friends have a wonderful Thanksgiving.

After a short delay, I am back with Crypts of Chaos by 20th Century Fox. A fine dungeon crawler if I do say so (and I do), a genre that is underrepresented on the Atari 2600. Coming up next is the arcade port Kangaroo by Atari. If you have feedback for this game, please send it to me by end of day October 18th, and the show will be out on the 21st. So he says.

I am playing for Extra Life again this year, but I am going to split it between November 3rd and 10th. I am old and I can't stay up that long anymore, it's really the thought that counts. Special thanks to Flanders 72, a punk band from Brazil. They are a great band that has a song called Bobby Is Going Home, which they let me use for the show. We bring the #SummerOfTanks to a close with the wonderful Front Line by Coleco, a run and tank game kinda similar to Commando (which will be an episode in 2045). I hope you enjoyed the #SummerOfTanks because that will be the last themed season that I do on this show. It just happened to work out that way. Next time I'm covering Bobby Is Going Home, a very special PALcast requested very gently by my friend Rama. Please send in your feedback no later than 6 pm EST on 11 September. Hello everyone! Thank you for your patience, I hit a bit of a podcasting wall right before summer started, and now we have quite a few weeks of visiting with family, which has been great. The schedule for summer will be a bit up in the air, so please continue to bear with me, and I thank you. This episode is about Fireball by Arcadia/Starpath, a Breakout style game for the 2600. Sarah always tells me I sound tired when I record the podcast, and I can never hear it. It is very obvious in this episode however, and I do apologize for that. I really wanted to rerecord it, but that would have taken a few more weeks. I hope that you enjoy it regardless, there's lots of great feedback to listen to in the second half of the show at least.

The hardly promoted Summer of Tanks will happen, hopefully it will not become the Autumn of Tanks! The next game in the podcast will be Tanks But No Tanks by Zimag. You can start sending in feedback now if you'd like, I will announce the episode a week before it drops (fingers crossed) so you have enough time to get feedback in. Please send it to 2600gamebygame@gmail.com. Thank you so very much for listening, and enjoy your summer!

Greetings fellow Climbers! In this episode, I speak with Dennis Debro about his first homebrew game, Climber 5! We also talk about his Pac-Man 4K homebrew and much of the work he's done helping other homebrewers. It was a great conversation and I am grateful to Dennis for talking with me.

Next up will be Fireball by Starpath, another paddle game, yay! If you have any thoughts on this game, please send them to me by end of day June 10th at 2600gamebygame@gmail.com.

Don Croswhite's Jungle Ferg design will be available on TeePublic starting tomorrow, May 31st, at 8 am. You will be able to buy shirts, Coffee mugs, and stickers at a discounted price until June 3rd at 8 am. Please support Don, he does great work!

On today's episode we plumb the depths of the game Polaris by Tigervision, a port of the Taito arcade game. Will it be a great game, or will it be subpar? Yes, these are the quality jokes that you can expect from this show. Up next will be the homebrew game Climber 5 by Dennis Debro, with whom I will be talking for the episode. Thank you so much to Dennis for that! If you have any feedback on Climber 5, please send it to me at 2600gamebygame@gmail.com by end of day on May 27th. The night before that, Sarah and I will be at Crabtowne USA in Glen Burnie, MD. Lots of classic games there to play, so please come and say hello if you're in the area. Thanks so much for listening!

Better late than never when dealing with hungry crocodiles, right? This episode is about the Taito arcade game turned into an Atari 2600 cartridge, Jungle Hunt. Are you game for wild adventure? ARE YOU?? If you are, then I will need you to sign a few release forms. You know, in case of crocodiles.

Next up is Solar Storm by Imagic. Do you have some thoughts on this game? Would you like to send them to me? You can, just drop a line to 2600gamebygame@gmail.com by the end of the day on Monday April 30. I will play or read it on the show, and then you will be slightly internet famous. Probably very slightly.

This week we're going deeper and deeper underground with scary alien monsters on our tail in Mines of Minos by Commavid! Can YOU make it to the alien command center and triumph? I can't.

Congratulations to Richard, he won the Strudders Score contest and will be receiving his copy of Mines of Minos just in time for Halloween, which is definitely scary. Thanks to all of you who entered the contest, and special thanks to Strudders for donating the prize.

Next up is the Atari arcade port of Jungle Hunt! Did you play this as a kid? Do you have a great Tarzan impression that you don't get to bust out often? Why not tell everyone by sending your thoughts and yells to 2600gamebygame@gmail.com. If you're sending an audio clip, PUT YOUR DAMN NAME IN THE SOUND FILE ALREADY. Or not, 6 files named junglehunt.mp3 is fine. NO REALLY, IT'S FINE.

Welcome to the exciting world of TEETH! This week I'm taking a look at Plaque Attack by Steve Cartwright and published by Activision. This is NOT the other Atari 2600 teeth game, so there. Next time I'm covering Mines of Minos by Commavid, and there will be another Strudders Score contest! If you'd like to win a copy of Mines of Minos courtesy of Rob, all you need to do is guess the combined score rating that Strudders and Mini Strudders will give the game WITHOUT GOING OVER. Keep in mind that the scoring is from 0-10, so don't guess over 20 you sillies! Please email your entries to 2600gamebygame@gmail.com. PLEASE put "Minos Contest" in the subject line, and if you have feedback for the game, please send a separate email. All entries and feedback should be in by April 3rd at 6:55 PM EST. Well, it will be more like a lecture, I don't like listening to other people talk, Shush! You can write to me instead if you'd like, I have another game coming up called Plaque Attack by Activision. In this episode I talk about Atari's unreleased prototype of Tempest, which is also their arcade game that I love so very much. The next episode will hopefully get me back on schedule, and that one will feature Mogul Maniac by Amiga. If you have any thoughts on that game, please send it to 2600gamebygame@gmail.com by end of day March 5th.

Yesterday was the 5th anniversary of my very first episode. I've had a lot of highs and lows while doing the podcast, but I still enjoy doing it and I'm glad you all are still with me. I'm looking forward to the next 5 or 10 or 20 years of doing this podcast. Thank you so much for listening!

Hi there, thanks for your patience for this episode on Wall Ball from Avalon Hill. I was finishing the editing on Wednesday morning when Sarah went to work. We thought the front porch was wet, but it was covered with ice. She fell and it was very scary, she was in a lot of pain. I ended up bringing her to the doctor to find out she had bruised her ribs. She is doing better now but the pain sneaks up on her still. Thanks to all of you again for your patience and well wishes.

Extra special thanks to Hoji and Kate Scott, who both helped me with this show by telling me about the programmer, Duncan Scott. Duncan sadly passed away in 2011, but when I contacted Kate she was very gracious and willing to help. She got together with her mom and they both answered the questions I sent. Thank you both so much!

Next up is the prototype for Tempest, by Atari. This is readily available on Flashback systems and also on Atari Age. I would love to hear your feedback on Tempest which you can send to me at 2600gamebygame@gmail.com. Please send it to me by the end of the day February 18th. Thank you so much for listening!

Happy New Year! Today's episode is about Popeye by Parker Brothers, based on the Nintendo arcade game, which in turn is based on the Popeye cartoons, which in turn again is based on the original comic strip which didn't originally feature Popeye (I know, right?!). Lots of great feedback, thank you all so much! Coming up next is Congo Bongo by Sega. If you have feedback for this game, please get it to me by January 21st. I am trying to turn over a new podcasting leaf, hopefully starting on feedback earlier will help. Thank you all so much for listening!

John Lennon has been a huge part of my life for decades. In this Bonus Track episode, I talk about how his murder affected me then and now. I know it's not the most happiest of topics around the holidays, I probably should have put this out on his birthday. But it didn't make sense to me to do that.

One thing I forgot to talk about during the show was one of my trips to NYC in the late 80s. I went with some friends to the Dakota building, where John Lennon lived and was murdered. I left feeling a renewed sadness about the murder, because the area where he was shot was so small. I had built it up in my head that since this was such an earth shattering event for me, the area where it happened would be bigger somehow. But it wasn't, it was just the entrance to an apartment building, albeit an expensive one. We went to Strawberry Fields in Central Park across the street afterwards, which made me feel a little better, but not much. I wasn't expecting so many flowers and trinkets left by fans on the Imagine mosaic almost a decade after the murder. I think a part of me was hoping to find some answers there as to why this happened, but I was disappointed. I don't think now that there are any answers. I would like to go back to Strawberry Fields someday, but I will stay away from the Dakota.

Regardless of the morose subject matter, I do hope you enjoy the episode and I thank you for listening. We all shine on.

Alfred E. Neuman once said, "Better late than never. Unless you're going to the dentist!" Oh, how we laughed. This episode is about the extremely elusive Atari Age magazine mailaway game, Quadrun. It is the first home video game to feature speech without having to use an add on unit, like those OTHER systems. It also makes its own gravy! Coming up in January is Popeye by Parker Brothers. If you have any feedback for this game or any I've already covered, please send it to 2600gamebygame@gmail.com and I will read or play it on the show. Also, if you have any Christmas memories you'd like to share for the Christmas episode, please send it in by December 15th. I would love to hear from you! Thank you so much for listening.

This past weekend, Bill and Lucy Lange hosted the Atari Party East at their home in Somerset NJ, close to where Atari had an office back in the 80s. Atari Party was started by Bill Kendrick in CA, and Bill decided to pick up the torch for those of us on the East coast! It was a great time, and this is just a short episode about the day. Thanks to Bill and Lucy and everyone who attended, we are looking forward to next year. Thanks for listening!

So. This episode is about Activision's racing game Enduro, but it is not the only episode about Enduro that I will be doing. I expected a good amount of feedback for this game, and I got an enormous amount instead. Which is absolutely wonderful, I am ecstatic to get so much feedback this far into the podcast. However, it is late and I am tired. Rather than wait to put out the whole show, I am putting out what I have so far, and the rest will go out this weekend. I kept telling Sarah that I was getting a lot of feedback, and she kept telling me to split the show into two parts. Of course I said I didn't want to do that, because I'm dumb. I had almost everything recorded before yesterday, and it still took forever to edit. So, enjoy this first half and I will see you again this weekend. Thanks for listening!

Part 2 can be found here. Thanks for your patience!

Space Raid is a homebrew game by Oscar Toledo Gutierrez that is what Zaxxon should have been on the 2600. I had a lot of fun playing it, Oscar did a great job programming it. I hope you enjoy the episode. Next up will be Enduro by Activision! Please check the blog page for the list of other upcoming games. This long-gestating episode is about the Milton Bradley game Survival Run, as well as its accompanying controller, the Cosmic Commander! I talk a lot about Milton Bradley as a company in this episode, I hope you like old commercials. I will also announce the winner of the Survival Run cartridge in the Strudders' Score segment at the end of the show, thanks to both Strudders and Mini Strudders for doing that! Next time will be Space Raid, the homebrew game by Oscar Toledo Gutierrez, aka nanochess on Atari Age. If you have any thoughts on this game or any that I've covered in the past, please send it to me at 2600gamebygame@gmail.com and you'll hear it on the show. Thanks so much for listening, enjoy your summer!

Here's a little update on what I've been doing instead of working on the Survival Run episode. That episode will be out next Wednesday. And don't forget the contest!  If you'd like a shot at winning Survival Run (provided by Strudders hisself), all you have to do is guess the combined Strudders' Score of Strudders himself and also Mini Strudders. So for example, if Strudders rates it 6 out of 10 and Mini Strudders gives it 5 out of 10, the entrant who comes closest to 11 (over or under, this ain't the Price Is Right) will win the game! In case of a tie, I will use random.org to determine the winner. Please get your entries in to me by July11th, and if you have any feedback you'd like me to read on that show, please try to have it in by then as well. As always, thank you so much for listening! Happy 4th of July!

Batman is my favorite super hero of all time, which oddly enough I did not mention in the episode (I'm assuming a podcast episode makes that obvious). I talk a little about my history with Batman in all its permutations, which is a lot. I hope you enjoy this episode, thank you so much for listening!

PS - I thought Bill Finger was the artist of the original Batman comics, he was one of the writers. I think Dick Sprang did some of the art for the early comics.
