Join me today as I talk about the wonderful port of Galaxian for the Atari 2600! There's lots of great feedback, as well as the song Galaxian from Dya's album Neon Dreams. Thanks to Aaron Hickman for giving me permission to use the song. Next episode will be about Absolute's Pete Rose Baseball. If you have any thoughts on this game or any game I've already covered, please send it to me at 2600gamebygame@gmail.com. Thank you so much for listening and for your support!

I had the extreme privilege to speak with Joe Grand, the creator of this week's game, SCSIside/Ultra SCSIside. Why are there two versions? You'll have to listen to the episode to find out! I would again like to thank Joe for taking the time to talk with me for the podcast, it was a great experience that I hope you will enjoy as much as I did.

There's an announcement at the end of the episode that I really would like your feedback on. You can send it to me at 2600gamebygame@gmail.com. You can also get a jump start on feedback for the next game, which is Atari's Galaxian. As always, thank you all so much for listening and for your support.

My first game episode was episode 2 about Combat. It came out March 3, 2013. I discovered later that I screwed up the sound (I had Audacity experience before doing the podcast, but not with a microphone). Since it's the 4th anniversary of that show (or it was, THANKS AUDACITY), I decided to clean it up the best I could and re-release it as a treat. If you think tortorous first podcasts are a treat. Anyway, thank you for four wonderful years (with many to come) and for my Facebook page reaching 1000 likes. I'm glad you all are here, and I thank you for listening.

Welcome to the first Atari 2600 Game by Game Protocast. This series will focus on prototypes that do not have a part number. This episode features Racer, which was made by Roklan Software for Atari, but it never came out and is not in the part list. I've been wanting to start this for a while, but this episode is due to the fact that I was having trouble getting to the SCSIside research, so that episode will have to wait. Also, I picked this game and started research, but I had trouble getting the game on my Flashback portable. Later I found out that the rom from Atarimania will not work. But I started the research and I wanted to get something out this week, so here it is. My idea was to insert these episodes in between the main episodes; I normally don't get much (if any) feedback on prototypes (especially if you can't play them, I guess), so it wouldn't take long to put the episodes together. Like always, if you have thoughts on these prototypes, I will be happy to read or play it on a subsequent episode. Thank you for listening and for your understanding.

This week I'm covering Glib by Selchow and Righter, the only released adult word game for the Atari 2600! I would like to offer a huge thank you to Mike Montana, the son of Glib programmer Rich Montana, for talking with me on this episode! I apologize for some buzzing during the interview, it did not sound like that during the recording. Mike was extremely nice to me and I'm so glad that he contacted me about Glib, in addition to telling me about his part in the programming. I will also be publishing a write up about Glib that Mike did, with his blessing. Thank you again Mike!

In two weeks I will be covering the homebrew game SCSIside/Ultra SCSIside, by Joe Grand. If you have any thoughts on this game, please send them to me at 2600gamebygame@gmail.com. Thank you so much for listening!

Thanks for your patience for this new episode on Q*Bert by Parker Brothers. Q*Bert is a fantastic arcade game and has a great port on the 2600, as well as many other systems! I hope you enjoy the episode. Next up in 2 weeks will be Glib by Selchow and Wrighter, the only adult word game released for the 2600 (I guess Hangman and Word Zapper are word games, but in my opinion they're skewed toward kids). If you've played Glib and would like to share your thoughts on the game, please send them to me at 2600gamebygame@gmail.com. Thank you so much for listening!

Happy New Year! I was hoping to get this out before 2017, but we had super extenuating circumstances that prevented that from happening. Sarah and I played through all the games that I covered in 2016, some of which I couldn't remember everything about, but that was kind of the point. I have forgotten many of the games I've covered, so going forward I think this will be a yearly tradition of helping me remember. Like I said in the show, listening on an AUDIO podcast to people playing VIDEO games may not be everyone's cup of tea, so you have been warned. All in all it was a fun way to celebrate New Year's Eve! I wish you all health and happiness for 2017, thank you for sticking with me for so long. I will see you very soon!

Hello all, this week I talk almost all about Mr. Do! I recorded it in a fragmented way, so I have forgotten stuff and repeated myself, but it is out a little early, so there's that. One thing I forgot to mention is the game over screen, just a simple screen with Mr. Do and game over on the screen, but I don't think I've seen much of that yet. Matt brought it up in his email but it still flew right by me. Also, the PAL version of the game shows your extra Mr. Do!s as full bodies, instead of just a head in the US version. Curioser and curioser. Despite this I really hope yopu enjoy the show.

If you'd like to send in a Christmas memory, you have until the 17th to do so, and that episode will probably be out on Wednesday. The three days after for me will be eat, sleep, and work, not necessarily in that order. It's usually pretty hectic and I won't have much time for anything those three days. Also, Space Battle will be coming up sometime in January, please watch Facebook and Twitter for that. You can send your feedback to me at 2600gamebygame@gmail.com. Thank you so much for listening!

Happy Gluttonous Shopping Season everyone! Please be sure to visit your local mom and pop stores this season, they'll feel good and you will too. Today I am discussing Keystone Kapers by the one and only Activision! I apologize for the refrigerator this episode, it sounded really loud and distracting on my end, so I hope you don't hear it. Next up on the show will be Mr. Do by Coleco, and I'll also throw in 3 Coleco games that had part numbers but never made it to programming, at least not that we know of. If you have any comments on Mr. Do or any game I've already covered (say, Mousetrap fer instance), please send it to me at 2600gamebygame@gmail.com. Also, if you have any Christmas or holiday memories of really any kind that you'd like to share, I would love to hear them! Please send those to me by December 16th. Thank you for listening everyone!

Egg Nog (makes 1 gallon, cut it down to the quantity you like)

2 quarts half and half
1 dozen eggs (I use large)
1 tablespoon vanilla extract (DON'T USE THE FAKE STUFF, I WILL FIND YOU)
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
2 cups sugar
1 cup rum
1 cup brandy
1 cup bourbon

Beat eggs in a blender until frothy and lemon yellow colored. Add sugar, vanilla, and salt and blend well. Pour into a large container (save your gallon milk jugs!) and add the remaining ingredients. Shake well to combine. PUT THE CAP ON FIRST. Sprinkle some nutmeg in there if you like that. Do NOT sprinkle pumpkin pie spice in there (see vanilla extract). Don't worry about cooking it, all of the alcohol will take care of whatever salmonella is in the eggs. I'm still here, aren't I? Refrigerate unused portion and shake well before you serve it again. Unused portion, that's a good one. Enjoy! :)

This week I discuss one of the two religious games released for the 2600, Music Machine by Sparrow. It's an expensive game but worth your time if you use emulators or Harmony cartridges. Next, uh, time on the show, I will be talking about Crazy Climber by Atari, one of the Atari Age magazine mailaway exclusive games. So yeah, another rare game, I promise I did not plan that! If you have feedback for Crazy Climber, you can send it to me at 2600gamebygame@gmail.com. Please be sure to join me this weekend for Extra Life, and if you can donate, there are plenty of people to choose from in the links! Thanks to all who donated, and I thank you all for listening. Finally, Part 2 of episode 127 is now available, featuring Sword of Saros by Starpath. From now on, each episode will feature one game and hopefully sometime in the future will be released weekly! I'm sure I'm going to regret that. Next time I'll be looking at Music Machine by Sparrow. Afert that, it will be Crazy Climber by Atari; Keystone Kapers by Activision; Mr. Do! by Coleco; Space Attack by M Network; Q8Bert by Parker Brothers; and Glib by Selchow and Wrighter. Any thoughts or comments on these games can be sent to me at 2600gamebygame@gmail.com. Don't forget to check out the forums! Another great idea. Thanks so much for listening!

Like I mentioned in the show, I am shooting to publish this 2 weeks from this past Wednesday, but if it does get delayed, it should be the last time that happens for awhile. Yes, another split episode. I just wanted to get something out there, this is the best way for me to do that right now. Maybe it's the way I should be doing this, who knows? I am hoping to watch the Krull movie before the episode since it is available on YouTube. If you have any feedback on these games, as always you can send it to me at 2600gamebygame@gmail.com. Please be sure to check out Geekade's Twitch channel on August 20th for their Pain in the Ass-a-thon, which is a charity benefit for the Colon Cancer Alliance. You can donate during the 24 stream at the Twitch site. Thanks for listening!

Hello all, long time no see! Last night I knew that I wouldn't be able to get the whole show done. So instead of waiting until probably next week, I split the episode into 2 parts. Part 1 deals with Summer and Winter Games, and Part 2 will be about California Games and all of the feedback for all three. So you still have until Saturday to get feedback in if you'd like. Thank you as ever for your patience and for listening, I wouldn't be here without you!

Hey everyone, thanks for your patience this week. This episode is about two of Activision's early 1983 titles, Oink and Dolphin. Next on the podcast I will be looking at Lost Luggage and Shark Attack (Lochjaw) by Apollo. If you have any feedback on these or any of the games I've covered, please send it to 2600gamebygame@gmail.com. You can check the calendar on the blogpage for the upcoming shows, I have updated it. A bit. I have some vacation time coming up, and while I don't have an episode listed for those weeks, I am going to try to get something out then. I also have an upcoming project, we are putting in a new floor in my gameroom/podcasting room, but I'm hoping that won't disturb the schedule. Much.

Thanks for listening everyone!

This week I cover two more games in the RealSports line, Tennis and Basketball. Basketball was an unfinished prototype that saw the light of day near the turn of the century. I think there is only one more RealSports title left, Boxing, which oddly came out much later than the rest. Next time I'll be discussing the Activision games Oink! and Dolphin, so if you have any thoughts on these games (or the RealSports games, I expected the feedback to be a bit light and I was not mistaken), please send it to me at 2600gamebygame@gmail.com. You will not regret it! Thank you so much for listening, and this Sunday, please say hi to your mother for me.

This week I'm looking at two of the CBS Electronics Ram Plus games, Tunnel Runner and Omega Race, as well as the Booster Grip controller! Thanks for your patience this week, and thanks again for the donations, it is greatly appreciated. I think I have settled on a mixer so I can record the sounds from the 2600 itself, and also, I think I may be able to use that to play the audio submissions live so you can hear me react to them. My current mixer is a Kitchen Aid, so that one won't work. Next episode will be about Sky Skipper and Tutankham by Parker Brothers, so if you have any feedback on those games or games I've already covered, please send it to 2600gamebygame@comcast.net, or 2600gamebygame@gmail.com. Hi everyone! I hope that you all are having a stress-free holiday season. I will be as soon as this is posted. :) And by this I mean my episode about Ms. Pac-Man and Centipede for the Atari 2600. I had a lot of fun, and even Mrs. Ferguson joins me for a new unfortunately titled segment! This will also probably be the only appearance of that segment. Thank you all again for your patience while I put this episode together.

On January 13th the games will resume with Seaquest and Spider Fighter, both by Activision. I will be putting a Christmas memories episode together this weekend, so I would need your submissions by December 19th. You can send your Christmas memories, feedback for Seaquest and Spider Fighter, or feedback for any game I've already covered (see Jose's handy list in the links down there) to me at 2600gamebygame@comcast.net. Hi folks, I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving. The next show proper won't be out until the 16th (so he says), but I wanted to give you something to tide you over. Instead, you're getting a show in which I ramble on and on about my collecting habits and where they are headed. I hope you will enjoy it anyway. :)

The next show will of course be about Centipede and Ms. Pac-Man, both by Atari. I am also looking for your Christmas memories, which I will put together and put out the week of Christmas some time. If you'd like to send your feedback or thoughts for either of these shows, please get them in to me by the end of the day on December 13th. That should give me plenty of time to get both shows out on time. You can send it to me at 2600gamebygame@comcast.net. Thank you very much for listening, enjoy your December!

Hello World! Today I check out Name This Game and Towering Inferno by U.S. Games. I also was very fortunate to speak with Ron Dubren, the designer of Name This Game. Big thank you to Ron for taking some time out of his day for me, and you can check him out on the interwebs at the links below.

I forgot to mention in the show that you can still donate to Wade or Rick for the Extra Life charity, up until the end of the year. So if you think you might have missed it, you didn't! Links to donate are below.

So. The next show will NOT be about Glib and Music Machine as I had originally planned. I am going to spend a little more time on the Centipede and Ms. Pac-Man episode, which will be out on December 16th. A Christmas show probably will not happen, but I haven't totally ruled it out. If you have feedback for Centipede or Ms. Pac-Man, or if you have an Atari related Christmas memory, please send them to me at 2600gamebygame@comcast.net no later than end of day on December 13th. Thanks very much for your understanding, and thank you all for listening!

Next episode will be on Name This Game and Towering Inferno (ironically a 20th Century Fox property) by US games. Please send your feedback for these games to 2600gamebgame@comcast.net. Hi everyone, I am very sorry once again for getting this episode out so late. I knew there was a lot to research on E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial by Atari, but I just didn't realize how MUCH was out there until I started looking. It is now finished and is very long, and I really hope it was worth the wait! It was a lot of fun to go back through all that happened last year, and you guys sent in some GREAT feedback, thank you so much for that.

Next week I'll be discussing two 20th Century Fox games developed by Sirius Software, Fantastic Voyage and Turmoil. I know I said in the show to get your feedback in by November 1st, but at this point by November 3rd end of day will be great. I apologize to Nils and Bill, they did send E.T. feedback in after I recorded but before I finished the show, but I didn't get time to put it in this show. Next one for sure! You can send that feedback to me at 2600gamebygame@comcast.net. Thank you all again very much for your patience, and I will see you next week! Fingers crossed. :)

Hey everyone! Time to check into the hotel room and turn on the... oh, wait a minute. Wrong Spectravision. This episode deals with the other Spectravision's games China Syndrome and The Challenge of Nexar, both of which you'd think would be under the Ch section in a list of Atari 2600 games, but NOOooooooooooo. Anyway, I hope you enjoy the episode. Next time I'll be talking at length I'm sure about the Atari game E.T., by the inimitable Howard Scott Warshaw. Please try to get me your feedback by the end of the day on October 18th, I am really trying hard not to procrastinate. So of course now I'm putting it on you. :D And as always you can send that feedback to 2600gamebygame@comcast.net. Thank you so much for listening!

Next time I'll be looking at China Syndrome and the Challenge of Nexar by Spectravideo/-vision. I haven't tried these yet so I won't say anything. If you have any thoughts about the games, or any I've already covered (check out Jose's spreadsheet below!), please send them to 2600gamebygame@comcast.net. Today I look at one of the most popular Atari 2600 games (and I can say 2600 because it came out after the rebranding), River Raid! Extra special thanks to Carol Shaw and Ralph Merkle for their help with this episode, and to Willie, ArKay, Captain Bob, and Mike at the Atari 5200 Super Podcast for their help as well, even though I screwed that up slightly (more details in the episode). Please go and check out the Atari 5200 Super Podcast if you don't already listen, and please check out their Facebook page at the link above!

Coming up next week is Bugs and Journey Escape by Data Age. Thanks to Wade's (from Inverse Atascii) suggestion, I now have a calendar to your right (unless you're on a mobile phone, then all bets are off). As long as I remember to keep it updated, you can check there for all the upcoming shows and see when they will be published. If you'd like to send your thoughts on Bugs and/or Journey Escape, or any other game I've covered so far, please send it to 2600gamebygame@comcast.net. Thank you so much for listening!

OH HEY. Today we conclude the Swordquest series talking about Waterworld and Airworld, and the ill-fated Swordquest contest. I thought I would be glad to be done, but it made me sad. But wait, next time I'll be talking about River Raid by carol Shaw, only from Activision! This is a big favorite, so I'm anticipating some feedback. You can send that right over to 2600gamebygame@comcast.net. I'll also be doing some other games later on. I am tired. Procrastination only hurts yourself folks.

HOWDY HOWDY HOWDY. Today I am covering three very good M Network games, Rocky and Bullwinkle, Kool-Aid Man, and Super Challenge Baseball. I had the great privilege of communicating with the developers of the latter two games, Stephen Tatsumi, Jane Terjung, and Ken Smith. My thanks go to them, and also to Paul Nurminen for getting me in touch with Ken Smith. Thank you all!

Next episode I will conclude the Swordquest series with Waterworld and Airworld (which is made of air, HAR HAR). Upcoming games will include River Raid by Activision; Bugs and Journey Escape by Data Age; China Syndrome and Challenge of Nexar by Spectravision; E.T. by Atari; Turmoil and Fantastic Voyage by 20th Century Fox; Name This Game and Towering Inferno by US Games; Music Machine by Sparrow and Glib by Selchow and Wrighter; and Ms. Pac-Man and Centipede by Atari. Well hi! I learned a very important lesson this week. I finished the research for the Xonox games Chuck Norris Superkicks and Artillery Duel on Sunday, way before I usually do. So of course, I have problem after problem while recording and editing, so that means procrastination is always worth it! Also, ambigram. Next time I'l be discussing Rocky and Bullwinkle (not released), Kool Aid Man, and Super Challenge Football, all by M Network. For the rest of this year, I'll be covering the following games: Swordquest Waterworld and Swordquest Airworld (vapourware) by Atari;  River Raid by Activision; Bugs and Journey Escape by Data Age; China Syndrome and Challenge of Nexar by Spectravision; E.T. by Atari; Turmoil and Fantastic Voyage by 20th Century Fox; Name This Game and Towering Inferno by US Games; Music Machine by Sparrow and Glib by Selchow and Wrighter; and Ms. Pac-Man and Centipede by Atari. If you have any thoughts or memories of these games or any I've already covered, please send them along to me at 2600gamebygame@comcast.net. Thank you all so much for listening!

Next time I'll be discussing Chuck Norris Superkicks and Artillery Duel by Xonox. Upcoming episodes will include the unreleased Rocky and Bullwinkle, Kool-Aid Man, and Super Challenge Football, all by M Network; Swordquest Waterworld and Swordquest Airworld (which is basically what that game is made of) by Atari; River Raid by Activision; Bugs and Journey Escape by Data Age; and China Syndrome and the Challenge of Nexar by Spectravideo. Hi there! Thank you all so much for helping me get to episode 100. In this Intellivisionaries-sized episode, I am celebrating by discussing one of my favorite Atari 2600 games, Pitfall by Activision. Extra giant super special humongous thanks to Willie! from the Colecovisions podcast for surprising me with an interview with the awesome David Crane! Thank you so much Willie, and thanks much also to David Crane for talking with us, it was my honor.

In two weeks I will be discussing Shootin' Gallery and Riddle of the Sphinx by Imagic. I will also endeavor to fix up my list because it needs fixing, so in the next episode I will announce more games that are coming up. If you have any feedback for these games, or any games I've already covered, please send them to me at 2600gamebygame@comcast.net. From the bottom of my heart, thank you so much for listening. Hi there, I'm so sorry for the wait. Episode 98 features Super Cobra and Reactor, both arcade ports from Parker Brothers. On May 6th I'll be looking at Realsports Football and Atari Video Cube by Atari. The contest that Greg from the SNES Podcast is sponsoring will be extended to May 5th at 11:59 PM EST. You can win a 20 dollar gift certificate to the Atari Age store, and all you have to do is tell me your favorite homebrew game for the 2600, either at 2600gamebygame@comcast.net, or on the pinned Facebook post. Thanks Greg!

Episode 100 will be Pitfall by Activision. Upcoming episodes will include Shootin' Gallery and Riddle of the Sphinx by Imagic; Vanguard and Phoenix by Atari, and Oystron, INV, and Mondo Pong, all homebrews by Piero Cavina. If you have any thoughts on these games or any games I've already covered, please send them to me at 2600gamebygame@comcast.net. Thank you for listening!

I hope you all had a wonderful Passover/Easter/Spring Break! It's time to get back into the games, and today we're looking at Tax Avoiders (Happy Tax Day too!) by American Videogame and Boing! by First Star Software. Both are the lone releases for the 2600 of their respective companies. Greg from the SNES Podcast is sponsoring a contest on my show! He is giving away a $20 gift certificate to the Atari Age Store. All you have to do is tell me your favorite homebrew Atari 2600 game in order to be entered in the contest. I will draw one winner at random on April 28th at 11:59 PM EST. Send your entries to 2600gamebygame@comcast.net or check Facebook for the pinned post. Thank you Greg!

Next week I'll be looking at Super Cobra and Reactor by Parker Brothers. In the upcoming weeks we'll have Realsports Football and Atari Video Cube by Atari; Pitfall by Activision; Shootin' Gallery and Riddle of the Sphinx by Imagic; Vanguard and Phoenix by Atari, and Oystron, INV, and Mondo Pong, all homebrews by Piero Cavina. If you have any thoughts on these games or any games I've already covered, please send them to me at 2600gamebygame@comcast.net. Thank you for listening!

Coleco had more than its fair share of vaporware for the Atari VCS, and this week I cover one of them (or at least what I can of it). Cosmic Avenger never came out and still has not been found, but Smurf and Carnival did! Also, congratulations to Jose Quezada, he won the Atari Flashback 5 from Willie from the Colecovisions podcast. Thank you to all who entered, and thank you to Willie for sponsoring and coming up with the contest!

Next week I will be covering two Realsports titles, Volleyball and Soccer (or Football if you're nasty). Coming up will be Super Cobra and Reactor by Parker Brothers; Tax Avoiders by American Video Game and Boing! by First Star; and RealSports Football and Atari Video Cube by Atari. If you have any thoughts on any of these games or any I've already covered, please send them to me at 2600gamebygame@comcast.net. Thanks for listening, see you next Wednesday!

Hi, it's me again. Today I am covering the final released text/picture label game on the part list, Brain Games, and the unreleased prototype game Frog Pond. Please check out the episode to find out how to find the clues to Willie's Fergquest contest; once you get all the clues you have to make 4 of them into the phrase that pays. I have extended the contest until March 24th at 11:59 PM EST. If you've already sent in an entry, you can send another one. Next week I'll be covering the Activision games Megamania and Sky Jinks. After that it will be Cosmic Avenger, Smurf: Rescue in Gargamel's Castle, and Carnival by Coleco; RealSports Soccer & Volleyball by Atari; Super Cobra and Reactor by Parker Brothers; Tax Avoiders by American Video Game and Boing! by First Star; and RealSports Football and Atari Video Cube by Atari. Episode 100 will feature a very special game, and I think it will probably be my longest episode to date. I don't want to say yet what it is, because I may start getting feedback now and then I will forget to put it in the show. I will give you ample time to send feedback, don't worry. If you have any thoughts on any of these games or any I've already covered, please send them to me at 2600gamebygame@comcast.net. Thanks for listening, see you next Wednesday!

Hi, welcome back from my vacation! Today's games are Fast Food and Ram It by Telesys. Also, today is the final batch of clues for Willie's FergQuest contest, where he is giving away a Flashback 5. You have to figure out the 4 word phrase that pays and send it to me in an email by March 17 11:59 PM EST. In case of a tie I will use random.org to determine the winner. If I don't get any correct answers by the next show, I will give you a clue. Good luck!

Next week I'll be looking at Brain Games and the prototype game Frog Pond, both by Atari. Coming up I'll be talking about Megamania and Sky Jinks by Activision; Cosmic Avenger, Smurf: Rescue in Gargamel's Castle, and Carnival by Coleco; Realsports Volleyball and Realsports Soccer by Atari; and Super Cobra and Reactor by Parker Brothers. Today I am discussing in horribly long detail Raiders of the Lost Ark by Atari. This is the result of 2 weeks of research and 3 hours of recording, probably the most I've put into a show so far. I really hope you enjoy it and don't get too bored. Once again, your feedback makes the show better and I thank you for that. No show next week due to cookies. The Christmas memories episode will come out the week of Christmas. Additionally I will be looking at the homebrew title Toyshop Trouble, which is really a great game. Unfortunately I don't have the cash to buy this right now, nor would it get here in time if I did. But I need to start covering Christmas games, so I should be able to get this one done in time. Please send me your Atari Christmas memories and any feedback for Toyshop Trouble by December 19th for it to be included in the show. You can send that to 2600gamebygame@comcast.net. Hi everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving, if you celebrate that sort of thing. Thank you for your patience waiting for a new episode, it will be much worse this month. :(  Speaking of new episodes, next week I will be looking at Raiders of the Lost Ark, by Atari. I am very glad that I made that its own show, I already have 12 pages of notes just on the manual and hint sheets! It will probably be a long show, so hopefully that will tide you over for awhile. GET IT, TIDINGS! BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Sorry. After Raiders I most likely won't be doing anymore games until 2015, but that is tentative. Also, please send me your Christmas memories by December 19th so I can record the Christmas memories show that weekend. Please don't take me for one of those militant Christmas people, I just didn't get any Hanukkah or Kwanzaa memories last year. If you have some, please send them to me at 2600gamebygame@comcast.net. I hope to get another show's worth of Christmas stories, I think last year's was awesome. Thanks for listening everyone!

The following week will be Raiders of the Lost Ark by Atari. After that I will play it by ear, but I will have a Listener Christmas Memories show the week of Christmas. So if you have any Christmas memories, or if you would like to comment on upcoming games or any games I've already covered (the Bomb episode might be a good episode for past game comments). Hi everyone, this episode is about the 20th Century Fox games Mega Force and Alien, both based on their movies. Congratulations to Matthew Edwards for winning the Strudders' Score contest! Thanks to everyone for participating. Next week I'll be looking at Chopper Command and Starmaster by Activision, then I will be taking the week of Thanksgiving off. The first week of December I will be covering Assault and Great Escape by Bomb, then Raiders of the Lost Ark by Atari. I would like to release another Christmas show on the 24th, but I will need more Christmas memories from you! The whole episode will be your feedback about anything associated with Christmas and the VCS/2600. I did one last year and it was very successful; the reason it is only feedback is because I am very busy in December with Christmas and my birthday, both at home and at work. So if you do have any feedback about any of these games, games I've already covered, or your Christmas memories, please send them to me at 2600gamebygame@comcast.net. Thank you so much for listening!

I apologize for the delay, I ran out of space on Libsyn. I will make sure it doesn't happen again.

Hello once again, today I talk about the Imagic games Fire Fighter and Sky Patrol (which went unreleased in the 80s). Also, Strudders is giving away copies of Alien and Mega Force in a contest on my show! You can check out the details at the link below. Next week I'll be looking at Basic Math (Fun With Numbers) and Math Gran Prix, both by Atari. The next episode will be on the aforementioned Alien and Mega Force by 20th Century Fox. Listen to the show for more details as to why there are not more games mentioned here. Your favorites are coming, don't worry. Thank you so much to everyone for all of your support for my Extra Life marathon, I made $500 for the Johns Hopkins Children's Center and almost made it the entire 24 hours. Thank you for listening!

This time I talk about the first two homebrew games made for the Atari 2600, SoundX and Edtris 2600, both written by Ed Federmeyer. There are arguments that some other games are the first, but these were first after the 2600 ceased to be. SoundX is a sound utility program, and Edtris 2600 is a version of Tetris. Next week I'm looking at In Search of the Golden Skull, AD&D Treasure of Tarmin, and Burgertime by M Network. Only one of these games was actually released! Coming up I'll be yakking about Frogger and Amidar by Parker Brothers; Swordquest: Fireworld by Atari; Sssnake and Airlock by Data Age; Fire Fighter and Sky Patrol by Imagic; Math Grand Prix and Raiders of the Lost Ark by Atari, and Mega Force and Alien by 20th Century Fox. This week I am looking at Swordquest: Earthworld and the ill fated contest that this game started off for Atari (SPOILERS). Very interesting stuff, please make sure you check out the links for great photos and even more info. Next week I am discussing Edtris 2600 and Sound X, both homebrews by Ed Federmeyer. From what I have read, Edtris 2600 is considered the first Atari 2600 homebrew cart. Upcoming games include In Search of the Golden Skull, AD&D Treasure of Tarmin & Burgertime by M Network; Frogger and Amidar by Parker Brothers; Swordquest: Fireworld by Atari; Sssnake and Airlock by Data Age; and Fire Fighter and Sky Patrol by Imagic. Got any feedback for these games, or any of the other games I've covered so far? Send it to me in text or mp3 form at 2600gamebygame@comcast.net.

Don't forget, Rob from Player/Missile Podcast is very generously sponsoring a contest! He is giving away an e-book copy of Racing the Beam, by Nick Montfort and Ian Bogost (it is an Amazon gift e-book, you need to be in the US and have an Amazon account, sorry about that). The next episode of his podcast is devoted to Space Invaders; both of us will be playing the game on the other's system, and you have to guess our combined scores (without going over) to win the book. You have until October 6th, and you can send your guesses to my email address above or post it to the pinned post on the Facebook page.

Hi there. Thank you for your patience for this show, I had some issues that I talk about in the episode.

Today's episode talks a little about Avalon Hill and the first of their games on my show, Death Trap and London Blitz. Coming up next week is Swordquest: Earthworld by Atari. There's a lot of info on that game and the accompanying contest, so I thought each of those should get its own episode (except Airworld, which never came out). Coming up will be Edtris 2600 and SoundX by Ed Federmeyer; In Search of the Golden Skull, AD&D Treasure of Tarmin & Burgertime by M Network; Frogger and Amidar by Parker Brothers; Swordquest: Fireworld by Atari; Sssnake and Airlock by Data Age; and Fire Fighter and Sky Patrol by Imagic. If you have any feedback on any of these games or any of the games I've already covered, please send it to me at 2600gamebygame@comcast.net. I love hearing from you!

In the meantime, Rob from Player/Missile Podcast is very generously sponsoring a contest! I will give a cutoff date soon, but it will be sometime in early October. That will be fun!

Today I look at two of my favorites for the 2600, Haunted House and Yars' Revenge. There's a lot to talk about, and now that I've finished recording I forgot to mention the Kids Stuff records. Yars' Revenge had an LP and a book and 45, each having some exclusive content. Like Asteroids, the LP is online but I could not find the 45. Now that's 2 videos I have to make, maybe Willie! will give me some pointers. :) Next week it's Barnstorming and Grand Prix by Activision! Seems like it's been awhile for Activision on my little show here. After that, it will be Death Trap and London Blitz by Avalon Hill; Swordquest: Earthworld by Atari; Edtris 2600 and Sound X by Ed Federmeyer; AD&D Treasure of Tarmin and Burgertime by M Network (I may add another game here, as Tarmin was not released and remains unavailable), and Frogger and Amidar by Parker Brothers. If you have any feedback or memories you'd like to share for any of these games, or if you're getting caught up with my show and want to talk about a game I've already covered, please send it to me at 2600gamebygame@comcast.net, in written or audio format. This week's episode is about the adult games released by Mystique, Custer's Revenge, Bachelor Party, and Beat 'Em and Eat 'Em. Controversial games all, please be advised that this episode has the explicit tag, so do not listen if you are offended by sex or if there are children anywhere near the mp3 player of choice. Next week will be much safer, it will be about Yar's Revenge and Haunted House, two of the better games that Atari made for their system. If you have any feedback about these two games, please send it along to 2600gamebygame@comcast.net. It should be a fun show. Thank you for listening!

This week's episode talks about Blackjack, Casino, and Slot Machine by Atari. I apologize for the delay, I am still trying to get over being sick. Thankfully, my dad should be getting out of the hospital on Friday, and again, I thank you all for your patience and your well wishes. It really does mean a lot to me. Next time, since I am a 12 year old boy at heart (as I mention in this episode and should be readily apparent), episode 69 will be about Custer's Revenge, Beat 'Em and Eat 'Em, and Bachelor Party. These are the three Mystique adult games that cause a lot of controversy and at least one lawsuit when they were originally released. I will have a warning at the beginning of the episode and it will also be labeled explicit in iTunes. I realize this will be offensive to some. I don't want to leave these games out because they are part of the game library, so if you are offended by this kind of material or if you listen with your kids, please skip this episode and come back for the Haunted House and Yar's Revenge episode right after this one. As always, if you have any feedback, please send it to me at 2600gamebygame@comcast.net. I am thinking that episode 69 will probably not be out until the 13th; hopefully after that I can go back to once a week, because all of this stuff is driving me crazy. Hi everybody, I feel a little guilty about not having an episode this week. This one is not about the 2600 though; rather, it's about the other toys I had and enjoyed as a kid. I don't necessarily think of the 2600 as a toy, but it was the last toy-like thing that I remember getting. I was 11 when I got it and was 8 months away from Middle School, which changed a lot of things for me. I was also a year from my first job as a paperboy, so I had cash in my pocket for the first time. I would either save up for an Atari cartridge or blow it at an arcade, I don't remember buying toys. Not until my 20s at least, which you'll hear about soon on the Retro Junkies Mini episode I did. I hope you like this episode, but I won't blame you for skipping it. Don't forget, next week we'll be taking a trip to the Atari Casino with Blackjack, uh, Casino, and Slot Machine. If you have any feedback you can send it to me at 2600gamebygame@comcast.net. Thanks everyone, enjoy the week and I'll see you on the 23rd!

Hello dere. This week I'm profiling a Coleco Game, Mouse Trap, and what was supposed to be a Coleco game, Lady Bug. Lady Bug is actually a home brew done by Champ Games/John Champeau, it was never released by Coleco back in the 80s despite being advertised and given a part number. See, vaporware has been around forever! I am spending a few days next week with my dad who is visiting from Arizona, so the show will resume on July 23rd with Blackjack, Casino, and Slot Machine by Atari. If you have any feedback for any of these games, or for any games I've already covered, I would love to read or play it on the show! Just send it to 2600gamebygame@comcast.net. Enjoy your Cow Appreciation Day and I'll see you on July 23rd. Thanks for listening!

This week's episode is about Asteroids and Berzerk, two great early arcade ports for the 2600. Big thanks once again to Willie Culver for sponsoring the contest for this episode, where he gave away an Atari Flashback 4! Willie is a great guy, make sure you watch him on Youtube at Arcade USA or listen to the Colecovisions podcast and the upcoming Channel F Files! As I say in the show, I should have split these games up to make it a little easier on me, but then the Swordquest games wouldn't have been on the same show, and that seems wrong. So it works out. I'm still editing, but I think this may be the longest episode yet. In the future I may do more single-game shows for games I think will garner a lot of feedback. Next week I'll be talking about Mousetrap by Coleco and Ladybug by John Champeau. I'm hoping my copy of Ladybug is here soon! In future episodes I'll be doing Blackjack, Casino, Slot Machine, Yar's Revenge and Haunted House by Atari; Grand Prix and Barnstorming by Activision; Death Trap and London Blitz by Avalon Hill; and Swordquest: Earthworld and Swordquest: Fireworld by Atari. Send your feedback in any shape or size to 2600gamebygame@comcast.net. Thank you everyone for listening!

Hi there! This week I discuss Word Zapper and Commando Raid by US Games. Next week is a big one, Asteroids and Berzerk, both by Atari. Upcoming games include Mousetrap by Coleco and Ladybug by John Champeau, Blackjack, Casino, Slot Machine, Yar's Revenge and Haunted House by Atari; Grand Prix and Barnstorming by Activision; and Death Trap and London Blitz by Avalon Hill. If you have any feedback for any of these games or any of the games I've already covered, please send it to 2600gamebygame@comcast.net. Don't forget to guess Willie's combined score on Asteroids and Berzerk to win an Atari Flashback 4! Go to Arcade USA and watch the video, then leave your score there in the comments or on my Facebook page. Thanks for listening!

This episode is about Submarine Commander (the last Sears exclusive on this show), and one of my childhood favorites, Video Pinball (both by Atari). Be sure to stick around to hear me ramble for quite some time about playing pinball as a kid. Next week I'll be talking about Cross Force and Tapeworm by Spectravision. Upcoming games include Word Zapper and Commando Raid by US Games; Asteroids and Berzerk by Atari; Mousetrap by Coleco and Ladybug by John Champeau, Blackjack, Casino, and Slot Machine by Atari; and Yar's Revenge and Haunted House, also by Atari. Send your feedback on these games or any game I've already covered to me at 2600gamebygame@comcast.net, and I'll read or play it on the show. Thanks for listening everyone, see you next week.

This week's episode is about the CommaVid carts Magicard and Video Life. It was a tough one, I really don't possess a basic understanding of programming (Magicard) or elementary science (Video Life), not to mention that I was off for three weeks and was out of the habit of my usual procrastination, which turned it into unusual procrastination. I hope that you will forgive me and enjoy the episode anyway, I did get some good feedback which as always saves the show. Next week I'll be talking about Submarine Commander and Video Pinball by Atari. Video Pinball is one of my favorites. Upcoming games include Cross Force and Tape Worm by Spectravision; Word Zapper and Commando Raid by US Games; Asteroids and Berzerk by Atari; Mousetrap by Coleco and Ladybug by John Champeau, and Blackjack, Casino, and Slot Machine by Atari. Any thoughts or memories that you have about any of these games or any of the games I've already covered can be sent to 2600gamebygame@comcast.net. Thanks for your patience and for listening!

This week I talk about two more of Sega's Atari 2600 games, Thunderground and Star Trek: Strategic Operations Simulator.  I found both of them to be fun to play. Next episode will not be out until June 4, I am taking a few weeks off. That will be MagiCard and Video Life by CommaVid. The MagiCard manual is horribly long and complicated, so the extra time will be nice. Upcoming games include Submarine Commander and Video Pinball by Atari; Cross Force and Tape Worm by Spectravision; Word Zapper and Commando Raid by US Games; Asteroids and Berzerk by Atari; and Mousetrap by Coleco and Ladybug by John Champeau. I'm including this homebrew (first one!) because it was slated to be released by Coleco but wasn't, and Champeau later released a great port of the game. So if you have any stories or memories of any of these games, please send them to me at 2600gamebygame@comcast.net. Thank you everyone, have a great Memorial Day if you're in the US and I'll see you in June!

This week is all about Pac-Man by Atari. Got a ton of feedback and audio submissions, so you are in for a treat! Next week I will be looking at Thunderground and Star Trek: Strategic Operations Simulator by Sega. I'll get to CommaVid eventually. Thank you everyone, hope you enjoy the show. This week I look at half of the Absolute Entertainment games, Title Match Pro Wrestling and Skateboardin.' Next week on the show I will be covering Pac-Man! A very polarizing game for sure. I already have quite a few emails for that show, I would love to hear what you think (and thought!) about this game. In the coming weeks I'll be doing MagiCard and Video Life by CommaVid; Submarine Commander and Video Pinball by Atari; Thunderground and Star Trek by Sega; Asteroids and Berzerk by Atari; Cross Force and Tapeworm by Spectravision, and Word Zapper and Commando Raid by US Games. I would love to hear your thoughts on these games or any of the games I've already covered; please send them in text or mp3 form to 2600gamebygame@comcast.net. Thank you for listening!

This week I stupidly cover 3 Atari games, Codebreaker, Flag Capture and Video Chess. Stupidly only because it was Easter and I was more busy than I've ever been. Sometimes 3 in a show is a necessary evil. Next week I'll be delving into Title Match Pro Wrestling and Skateboardin' by Absolute. Upcoming games include Pac-Man by Atari; Magicard and Video Life by CommaVid; Submarine Commander and Video Pinball by Atari; Thunderground and Star Trek: Strategic Operations Simulator by Sega; Asteroids and Berzerk by Atari (if that show isn't close to 90 minutes with feedback then I'm doing something wrong); and Cross Force and Tapeworm by Spectravision. If you have any stories or memories of any of these games that you would like to share, please send them to 2600gamebygame@comcast.net. This of course is not a guarantee that I will read it on the correct show, as I am wont to overlook them sometimes. I just realized I forgot to read Jeff's email this week, I apologize to Jeff and I will read them on next week's show. I hate it when I do that. Thanks for listening everyone.

Upcoming games include Codebreaker, Flag Capture & Video Chess by Atari; Skateboardin' and Title Match Pro Wrestling by Activision; Pac-Man by Atari; MagiCard and Video Life by CommaVid (tentatively); Submarine Commander and Video Pinball by Atari; and Thunderground and Star Trek: Strategic Operations Simulator by Sega. This week's episode is a little dry, it features the Atari games Surround and Hunt 'n' Score (aka A Game Of Concentration). What this episode lacks in gameplay makes up in audio submissions! I wasn't expecting much feedback this week, but I did get some, which included audio from Shinto and Rob O'Hara. I really appreciate everyone that sends feedback, especially those who take the time to actually record it. I am trying to do that more myself for other podcasts, even though I think my voice sounds worse on other podcasts than it does on mine. Anyway, next week I'll be looking at the Starpath games ("tapes" would be an acceptable term for these, and only these) Suicide Mission and Killer Satellites. Upcoming games include James Bond 007 and Gyruss by Parker Brothers; Codebreaker, Flag Capture & Video Chess by Atari; Title Match Pro Wrestling and Skateboardin' by Absolute, Pac-Man by Atari, and Magicard and Video Life by CommaVid. You can send your feedback for these games or any game I've already covered to me at 2600gamebygame@comcast.net. Than you for listening everyone!

This week I look at Fast Eddie and Deadly Duck by 20th Century Fox, makers of fine films and video games. Next week it's back to the early days of Atari with Surround and Hunt 'n' Score, aka A Game of Concentration. Upcoming games include Suicide Mission and Killer Satellites by Starpath; James Bond 007 and Gyruss by Parker Brothers; Codebreaker, Flag Capture & Video Chess by Atari; Title Match Pro Wrestling and Skateboardin' by Absolute, and a big one, Pac-Man by Atari. That one should generate some discussion. Send me feedback, including your memories and opinions of these games and any of the games I've covered so far to 2600gamebygame@comcast.net. This week I talk about Othello and RealSports Baseball, the latter being the first silver label game that I'm discussing! Rick from the Intellivisionaries Podcast and I pitted our respective consoles against each other in Reversi/Othello, which you can watch on Youtube via the link below. Special thanks to Rick for suggesting this, and also for recording it and hosting it on the Intellivisionaries Youtube page! Next week I'll be talking about Fast Eddie and Deadly Duck by Sirius/20th Century Fox. Upcoming games include Surround and A Game of Concentration (AKA Hunt 'n' Score) by Atari; Suicide Mission and Killer Satellites by Starpath; James Bond 007 and Gyruss by Parker Brothers; Codebreaker, Flag Capture & Video Chess by Atari; and Title Match Pro Wrestling and Skateboardin' by Absolute. This week's episode is about two more Activision games, Stampede and Ice Hockey. These games are so simple that I think I spent much more time on the packaging then on the actual gameplay! Next week is two more Atari games, Othello and RealSports Baseball (I think it's the first Atari silver label cart in the podcast that wasn't a reissue). Coming up isFast Eddie and Deadly Duck by Sirius/20th Century Fox; Surround and A Game of Concentration (AKA Hunt 'n' Score) by Atari; Suicide Mission and Killer Satellites by Starpath; James Bond 007 and Gyruss by Parker Brothers; and Codebreaker, Flag Capture & Video Chess by Atari.
